Jay Davis is still bringing in the rock star/Hollywood crowd at his “Life of the Party” show every Tuesday at the Laugh Factory. I actually hadn’t been to the show since the Dane Cook hay days, but very little has changed. It’s still a popular ticket. I happened to have the first spot in line yesterday in case Dave Chappelle did show up (comedy nerd alert!), so I had a prime spot to watch the actors, wannabe actors, rock stars, reality stars, and Team Affliction walk through. It’s not your average comedy crowd. More of the “night club” crowd. But let’s be clear, if you want to bring your fake boobs and short skirts out to laugh, I am TOTALLY ok with that. Audrina Patridge was in the house. I don’t watch “The Hills” but I appreciate nice boobs and all of the girls in the Carl’s Jr. commericials, so I know who she is.
Let’s get to the comedy.
Aries Spears did this rap medley impression that was simply unreal. Apparently 2.1M have watched in on YouTube. In case you’re one of the slow kids, like me…here it is. It’s even better in person.
Dom Irrera is simply one of the greatest comedians ever and I could listen to Brian Scolaro do jokes all day. He’s so damn funny.
But I have to say, for me, the set of the night belonged to a guy that I have never seen before – Greg Hahn. He’s insane! He was making all these great jokes about the corporate world. His energy is great. It just made me laugh. Maybe it’s because I recently got laid off and sometimes you realize the ridiculousness of the corporate world. It was just the right jokes at the right time for me. That’s what comedy is all about really. Giving you laughs when you need them.
