I couldn't agree with you more on Lana Turner! We just saw her recently as the headliner, and all she could talk about was her stretched out female body parts, AIDS, and trite, stereotypical slants that isolated any minority type in the room. My husband and I are intellectual professionals and can find humor in just about anything, we say, no matter how bad it may be. We love the comedy channel on both television and XM. As a mixed raced couple in a city where there are few minorities, Lana actually had the crowd pointing at my husband. Though she didn't specifically say this, she did exclaim "Oh there's one in the room!" We just smiled and remained our good-natured selves. When she proclaimed that "the world needs one less biracial kid in the world" atop other jokes, we were so embarrassed by the looks, points, and stares, we didn't even look at each other. Three couples around us actually apologized for her as we were leaving. My husband is a good-natured guy; and despite his ability to overcome negativity, he mentioned how it made him feel in the next few days. She was just offensive, not even funny. And believe it or not, despite what I've said, we would give credit where credit is due. Even if you're thick-skinned, she doesn't give many chuckles. She did have a few great one-liners that were im-provved from a group in the front of the room. Truly these unscripted comments showed she CAN be funny; she is just on the wrong track.
